Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, declared export-led growth as the sole path forward for the nation’s economic stability.

Addressing the group of top exporters and businessmen led by Shabbir Diwan, former Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council, the Finance Minister emphasized the necessity for every economic sector to contribute towards increased productivity and outward-looking policies to avoid the country’s return to another IMF program.

During the meeting, Aurangzeb stressed that structural challenges such as high financing costs, energy tariffs, and tax complexities must be resolved to empower local industries to lead the productivity and export-focused growth.

He highlighted the government’s aim to shape the upcoming federal budget as a strategic document that aligns fiscal priorities with sustainable, export-driven growth. The discussion included the Tariff Rationalisation Program, which seeks to eliminate business operation barriers. Mr. Diwan expressed support for the government’s initiatives and shared insights on enhancing policy consistency and predictability.

Senator Aurangzeb assured that stakeholder feedback will play a crucial role in the next reform phase, underscoring the need for public-private collaboration to establish a resilient, globally integrated economic framework.
