ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has congratulated the elected office bearers of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).

In a statement on Tuesday, he felicitated GM Jamali for his election as President, Rana Azeem as Secretary General, Rizwan Ghalzai as Assistant General Secretary, Jamil Mirza as Secretary Finance and Farhat Fatima and Aslam Dogar as Vice Presidents. He expressed the hope that the elected body will work for the welfare of journalists and the freedom of media.

The Minister said the government has taken several steps to address the problems of journalist community. He said the government believes in freedom of expression and independence of journalism in the country and will work with PFUJ for completion of legislation process to protect journalists’ rights.
