Lahore, April 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari called on PML-N President and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here today. Talking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said the pace of journey of development and prosperity will be further accelerated in southern Punjab and added that southern districts have been returned back their rights by giving them more resources as compared to their population size. In every development program, the southern Punjab has been given ten percent additional quota, he added. The girls’ stipend has been increased to Rs. one thousand per month in public sector schools of the southern Punjab.
He lamented that past governments used the slogan of southern Punjab province for their political purposes. On the other contrary, PML-N got resolutions approved from the Punjab Assembly for the establishment of southern Punjab province and restoration of defunct province of Bahawalpur. No other political party could dare to get approve resolutions for the restoration of Bahawalpur as a province and establishment of southern Punjab province, he said. Shehbaz Sharif said that he tremendously served the people of southern Punjab during the worst floods of 2010 along with the elected representatives while the past rulers badly ignored the people of southern Punjab in their respective tenure. The past rulers did not solve the problems of the southern Punjab.
He said that resources to the tune of billions of rupees have been utilized for the construction and restoration of rural roads and thousands of kilometers long carpeted roads have been constructed in rural areas of the southern Punjab. In fact, the steps taken by the incumbent government for the development and prosperity of southern Punjab have never been taken during the entire history of the country.
I consider it as an obligation to serve the people of southern Punjab, said Shehbaz Sharif and added that he has been personally supervising the welfare-oriented programs of southern Punjab districts. As a result, southern Punjab is fast moving towards development and prosperity as like other cities of the province, concluded the Chief Minister.
Talking on the occasion, Awais Leghari said that resources to the tune of billions of rupees have been provided for prosperity of people of southern Punjab districts and innumerable development work has been done for improving the quality of life of the people living in southern Punjab. Due to the tremendous development work carried out under the supervision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the PML-N’s vote bank has been increased in southern Punjab. Your vision and hard work for solving the problems of southern Punjab is not hidden to anybody and unprecedented development work has been carried out in different cities and villages of southern Punjab during the tenure of PML-N, he further said.
