PESHAWAR:Teams of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Saturday conducted raids in Buner district and arrested three people who were doing illegal business of Hawala/Hundi.

The raids were conducted following the directions of FIA Director General Dr Sana Ullah Abbasi and Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mujahid Akbar Khan. The FIA chief had directed to conduct crackdown against the illegal business of Hawala/Hundi.

FIA’s Deputy Director Commercial Banking Circle (CBC), Peshawar Afzal Khan Niazi constituted special teams to conduct raids in Buner district along-with Assistant Commissioner Buner Syed Ibrar Ali Shah. The FIA CBC Peshawar teams during the crackdown arrested accused Ejaz Ahmed and Rab Nawaz Khan and recovered Rs69, 65, 000 (sixty nine lac sixty five thousand) along-with Hawala/Hundi receipts.

In second raid in the same area, they arrested the accused Adil Khan, who was doing illegal business of Hawala/Hundi and recovered Rs2, 48, 000 from him along-with the Hawala/Hundi receipts. In the third raid in the same area, accused Ehtisham, who was also doing illegal business of Hawala/Hundi, was arrested and Rs46, 100 along-with receipts of Hawala/Hundi were recovered from him.

The accused were doing illegal business of Hawala/Hundi, which is a parallel banking, without any legal authority/license. They committed crime by violating Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947. Cases are being registered accordingly and investigation is in progress.
