The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted raids in Karachi against suspects involved in hawala hundi and illegal currency exchange, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
According to the official statement, the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle and Corporate Crime Circle conducted raids on Jamshed Road and Tariq Road. As a result of these operations, suspects named Hamza Saleem and Aqeel Abbas were taken into custody.
Aqeel Abbas was found to be linked with a hawala hundi network, which was being operated through agents named Musaddiq and Husnain from Dubai. Hamza Saleem was involved in illegal currency exchange.
During the raids, 4.5 million rupees in hawala payments and 13,500 US dollars were recovered from the suspects. Evidence, receipts, and a mobile phone related to hawala hundi were also seized from Aqeel Abbas.
The suspects could not satisfy the authorities regarding the recovered currency, and an investigation has been initiated against them. According to the FIA spokesperson, raids are ongoing to arrest other accomplices of the suspects.
