Film half widow pack of lies, Indian propaganda: APDP

General Official News

Srinagar, August 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP), Parveena Ahanger, has lashed out at film director, Danish Renzu, of running an Indian propaganda in the name of his movie Half Widow. The APDP chairperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said that she came to know that some Danish Renzu had made a film based on half widows of Kashmir but had never visited or met any half widow or anyone from APDP.

Last year in August, Danish Renzu in an interview with an online portal had said that he was inspired to work on Half Widows after meeting APDP chairperson, Parveen Ahanger, the claim now flatly refused by her. “This is a blatant lie. He has neither approached me nor any other victim (half widow) before making the film or even after its release. He has lied in the interview, which is both shameful and sad,” she said.

APDP chairperson also refuted claims of Renzu attending their protests or sit-ins. “How can someone be inspired even without meeting us in person? Why should we listen to this propaganda when these people never empathize with us,” she asked. “If people want to make money out of our sufferings, we have nothing to say to them except that they can’t belittle our cause, suffering and pain of separation,” she said.

“He has never asked me for any approval nor did he ask any other victims. He is doing it all by himself. His story is based on lies and his own whimsical ideas. This movie doesn’t represent our struggle, our miseries, our thinking or our aspirations,” she said. She said the movie does not mention anything about Indian forces, neither does it show that these boys were picked up by the Indian army. “This message of the film is nothing but an Indian propaganda,” she said.
