FIR against Aasiya, aides act of vengeance: IOK Bar

Srinagar, July 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has termed the registration of an FIR against Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) ailing Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi and her close aides Nahida Nasreen and Fahmeeda Sofi as an act of vengeance. The HCBA in a statement in Srinagar said, “Instead of arresting, detaining and registering false and frivolous FIRs against the DeM leaders, the authorities should have released them keeping in view the ailment of Aasiya Andrabi and the tender age of Fahmeeda Sofi.”

It said the daily cordon and search operations, during which innocent people are beaten, humiliated and tortured and their properties are either destroyed or damaged, can in no way be termed as people-friendly but are the worst kind of human rights violation of which notice should be taken by the members of the international community. It also condemned the killing of Faizan Ahmad, a 10th class student and injuring of about a dozen civilians, with bullets and also the blowing up and setting ablaze a house at Thumna village of Pulwama.

Meanwhile, Zamrooda Habib, the Chairperson of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen in a statement also expressed her concern over deteriorating health and illegal continuous detention Of DeM chief Aasiya Andrabi. She has asked International Committee of Red Cross to visit the ailing woman leader and make it possible to provide her medical facility.
