LARKANA: Five people were killed and seven others injured when roofs of four houses collapsed in Larkana district due to ongoing rains on Saturday.
In first incident, the roof of the house fell down due to rains in Sanwal Khan Luhar village near Larkana, killing 30-year-old Ilyas Luhar and injuring four persons including his cousin Abdul Luhar, nephew Khadim Luhar, and brother Ali Luhar. The bodies and injured were rushed to the Emergency Department of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
In another incident, the roof of a house caved in at Sehar village near Larkana, in which woman Rubina and her two daughters were killed while three other persons – 30-year Riaz Ahmed, his son Zaheer and a four-year grandson Ayan Ali – were injured. They were shifted to CMCH for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
In third incident, 17-year girl Arbella, daughter of Riaz Sangi, died while her sister Bashiran and her minor son Ali were injured when their house’s roof fell down in the wee hours of today in Dodai village near Larkana.
In fourth incident, three people, including two minor babies, were injured when the roof of Irshad Dayo’s house collapsed in Shah Baharo Colony in Larkana which include handicapped Shakil Ahmed and two minor sisters.
Meanwhile, 15 houses collapsed in Shah Baig Jamali village located within the limits of union council Ratokot of Larkana taluka and affected people spent their night in the village’s government school.
The affected people including Anwar, Siraj Jamali, Najam Bahlul, Ahmed Muhammad Khan and others said that nobody had so far reached for their rescue and relief despite the fact that they had lost all their vauables under the debris of their houses. They said their 25 acres of standing crops had also been damaged and they were staying under open sky along with their women and children.
As many as 20 houses were damaged in and around Naundero due to torrential rains which include Garhi Khuda Bux, Khan Wah, Pir Goth, Pir Jan Muhammad, Saidu Dero and other villages. The affected people have urged the authorities for rehabilitation and compensation.
