Former PTCL officer, cashier jailed, fined in corruption case

QUETTA:The Quetta Accountability Court has fined Ashfaq Khalid, a senior revenue officer of the Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) Quetta with Rs194, 70710 and Pervez Zaki, a cashier of the company, with Rs 5,000,000, sentencing both the accused to one and a half years imprisonment .

According to the investigation team of National Accountability Bureau Balochistan, Ashfaq Khalid, a senior officer of PTCL and Pervez Zaki, a cashier, embezzled about Rs 46,152,000 by receiving salaries in the name of daily wages employees for many years.

NAB Balochistan, after completing the investigation, submitted the reference before the accountability court, but the accused remained absconding for a long time. Later, the NAB Balochistan intelligence team arrested the accused and sent them to jail.

Accountability court judge Allah Dad Roshan in the light of NAB investigation and irrefutable evidences imposed fine to the tune of Rs 24,440,710 and sentenced both the accused to one and a half years imprisonment.
