Forum pays rich tributes to recently martyred youth in IOK

Srinagar, June 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has paid rich tributes to the youth martyred by Indian troops in various cordon and search operations in South Kashmir’s Sugan, Shopian, Tral Awantipora and Dangerpora area in Sopore.

The forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said the martyrs included Abid Manzoor Magray, Bilal Ahmed Butt, Yawar Ahmed Najar, Umar, Naseer Ahmed Mir, Asif Ahmed War and the innocent civilian Jasim Ahmed Shah. It said that even in the sacred month of Ramadan, Kashmir saw no end to bloodshed as the killing of youth continued unabated.

The forum strongly condemned the use of pellets on protestors in these areas that has left many youths with grave eye-injuries and stated the way live ammunition and lethal pellets are showered on the protestors reflects the anti-people policy of youth and that the international community must take serious note of it.

It said entire Kashmir, especially South Kashmir areas have been converted into a battleground and there is hardly any day, when youth are not killed, harassed and maimed which stands as the eye-opener for the international community as far as the worst scenario of the human rights violations in Kashmir is concerned.

The Hurriyat forum said people of Kashmir are fighting for their legitimate right – right to self-determination for which priceless sacrifices of life and property are being given by its people. It reiterated that unless Kashmir issue was addressed peace and prosperity would elude south Asia and it’s high time that instead of using a military approach the Indian government needs to address the issue politically through dialogue and engagement among all parties.
