Functional Committee on Government Assurances takes Strict Notice of absence of Law Minister

Islamabad, July 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Functional Committee on Government Assurances, in its meeting held on Monday, 8th July, 2019 took strict notice of the seventh consecutive absence of Minster for Law and Justice. The Committee showed displeasure regarding the callous attitude of the Minister Incharge towards the important issue pertaining to employment quota in Pakistan.

The Committee recommended that a letter regarding non attendance of Minister Incharge as an Ex-officio member be written to Chairman Senate so that a stern action regarding the absence of the Minister for Law and Justice be initiated. The Committee also took serious notice of the absence of Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice too.

The Committee also decided to move a privilege motion against the Minister for Law and Justice and Secretary Ministry of Law and Justice by bringing into the notice of Chairman Senate. The Committee asserted that the agenda of the meeting related to rights of less developed and smaller provinces, which if ignored will breed and increase grievances.

Chairman Committee, Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo said that all parties were on the same page regarding the agenda of the meeting that pertained to the introduction and passage of constitutional amendment in either House of Parliament for employment quota. The Committee stressed the need for passage of the Bill at the earliest.

The meeting chaired by Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo, which was attended by Senator Liaqat Khan Tarakai, Senator Fida Muhammad Khan, Senator Abida Muhammad Azeem, Senator Asif Saeed Kirmani, Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Senator Dr. Asad Ashraf and a consultant from the Ministry for Law and Justice.
