Pakistan’s Acting President, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has vehemently condemned an assault by Israeli forces on a humanitarian aid convoy bound for Gaza, labeling the incident “state terrorism and barbaric savagery” and calling for immediate international intervention.

In a powerful statement issued Thursday, Gilani denounced the “brutal and cowardly” strike on the Global Samud (Steadfastness) Flotilla, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian principles. He asserted that the aggression leaves a permanent mark on the conscience of the global community.

The flotilla, a convoy of 40 boats, was carrying more than 450 human rights advocates and relief volunteers from 44 different nations. The acting president clarified that the group’s sole objective was to deliver desperately needed food, medicines, and other essential supplies to the besieged and suffering population of the Gaza Strip.

‘The only ‘crime’ of these innocent and selfless individuals was that they sought to stand by the oppressed Palestinians in the spirit of human compassion,’ Gilani remarked, highlighting the peaceful nature of the mission.

Gilani urged the United Nations, human rights organizations, and the international community to take swift notice of this grave crime. He demanded that Israel be held accountable for its inhumane actions and stressed the urgent need to establish an uninterrupted channel for aid to reach the people of Gaza.

‘The demands of peace, justice, and humanity are clear – humanitarian aid must reach those in desperate need, and the already suffering people of Gaza must not be subjected to further misery,’ he emphasized.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s long-standing position, the acting president declared that the nation would continue to provide unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral backing to the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.
