German envoy calls on SAPM

Islamabad, December 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): German envoy Ms Marion called on Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs here at the Prime Minister Office, today. Chairman NAVTEC Syed Javed Hassan and UNDP’s representatives Mr. Ignacio Artaza along with Ms. Laura Sheridan were also present during the meeting. SAPM informed the participants about government’s flagship programme envisioned by the Prime Minister for true empowerment of youth in Pakistan. He underlined the need for enhanced collaboration among government’s agencies and international donors to avoid overlapping in efforts taken for betterment of the youth.

Mr. Dar discussed the possibility of forming a consortium of donors to channelize their assistance through UNDP and augment PM’s Kamyab Jawan Programme achieve its targets. He said that a consultative meeting with international donors and stake holders will be held in January to formulate better strategies for youth development. “We also want international donors have a say and close monitoring of our initiatives to ensure transparency and effective implementation”, further said Dar. Ms Marion said, “We are pleased to see that government in Pakistan is taking the lead in empowering youth. We need to share our experiences and build on what has been done”.

She said that its the right time to sit together and finalize our future course of action. Chairman NAVTEC said that an allocation of Rs. 10 billion for skills development reflects the government’s commitment towards capacity building of youth. He said that KPI’s of various training programmes will be available on NAVTEC’s website for any scrutiny and future improvements. The meeting was also attended by officials of PM office.
