Srinagar, March 14, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Gilani has condemned the summoning of various Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Gilani by India’s National Investigation Agency in the name of questioning.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that more than a million Indian troops equipped with a deep investigative network were already in the territory and the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) had added to miseries of the Kashmiri people to crush their peaceful voice.
Strongly condemning the NIA summons to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Gilani, he said these acts of arrogance are only to fatten their vote bank. He said earlier too the NIA and Enforcement Directorate of India arrested scores of Hurriyat leaders including Dr Ghulam Mohammad Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Syed Shahid Yousuf on fictitious and false charges of Hawala and terror funding but could not prove even a single case.
He said countless raids on various Hurriyat activists and common people have yet to yield anything to substantiate their narrative, but the Indian media theatrics and their paid channels put every Kashmiri to the media trial even before judicial proceedings. The media trial has dented the image of the investigating agency to the extent that in Kashmir it is used as a tool to strangulate every voice of dissent.
The APHC Chairman said Kashmir dispute is globally recognized reality and such timid tactics can in no way demonize its importance. He said, “India needs to come out of the denial mode and show some sincerity, if not to us at least to its own people as this unresolved flashpoint can trigger anytime a human destruction.
