Srinagar, June 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has condemned the fresh campaign of character assassination launched by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) against the Hurriyat leaders and ruled out possibility of any submission or surrender before New Delhi.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The fresh spurt in the character assassination campaign launched by the NIA against the leadership is a brazen plot to prolong their illegal and unjustified detention. We reject possibility of any submission or surrender before the Indian imperialism and its military might.”
The APHC Chairman hailed the exemplary role played by the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Aasiya Andrabi and her family and condemned the sinister designs of the NIA to lodge a baseless case against her. “It is the well-thought-out ploy to defame leadership on flimsy and fabricated charges. This is a vicious character assassination campaign and it reflects frustration of the Indian authorities.”
Syed Ali Gilani pointed out that history bears testimony to the fact that any indigenous popular movement for the right to self-determination has never been defeated or eliminated by imperialistic forces whatsoever. “New Delhi should shun the policy of vengeance and character assassination of resistance leadership of high respect and dignity to prolong their unjustified detentions. It is better to resolve the long pending Kashmir dispute for peaceful and prosperous future of South Asia which has virtually turned into a nuclear flashpoint,” he added.
Syed Ali Gilani appreciated the courage of Hurriyat leaders and activists lodged in Tihar jail including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Shahid Yousuf, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Farooq Ahmed Dar and businessman, Zahoor Ahmed Watali. He also hailed the sacrifices, courage and determination of other illegally detained leaders and activists including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Tariq Ahmed Dar, Mansoor Ahmed, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Abdul Ghani Dar, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Shakeel Ahmed Yatto, Maulana Sarjaan Barkati, Mir Hafeezullah, Amir Hamza Shah, Abdul Rasheed Mugloo, Sirajuddin, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi and scores of other detainees languishing in different jails.
The APHC Chairman also condemned the arrest of Hurriyat activist, Abdul Rasheed Dar of Pampore in place of his son Javaid Ahmed. “It is in no way a legal way or supported by any moral ethics to punish an innocent person for the fault he never committed,” he said.
