Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Musadik Masood Malik, urged for worldwide cooperation in achieving climate justice.
Addressing the 2nd Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 in Islamabad, he detailed his recent visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, where glacial lake outburst floods have devastated communities. Malik emphasized the resilience of Pakistan’s vulnerable populations and commended the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for its role in resource empowerment.
Highlighting China’s advancements in green energy, the Minister called for leveraging Pakistani youth to foster a green economy. He stressed that countries least responsible for climate change face the greatest challenges, necessitating global solidarity.
Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA, stressed the need for preparedness to mitigate disaster risks. He pointed out Pakistan’s severe climate vulnerability and water scarcity. The Chairman discussed strategies for anticipating seasonal disasters and commended the National Emergencies Operation Center for its proactive disaster management efforts.
