Glorious tribute paid to Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani in IIOJK

Srinagar, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid on behalf of its incarcerated head, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, paid glorious tribute to the most revered saint of the Valley, Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA), who is also fondly referred to as Nund Reshi by the people of Kashmir, on his urs and described him as an epitome of knowledge of Shariah and wisdom.

It is pertinent to mention that the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir is invited by the people of Chraar-e-Shareef every year on the occasion of the annual urs to deliver sermon which he wholeheartedly accepts and participates by paying a visit to the revered shrine and offering rich tribute to the Alamdaar-e-Kashmir (RA) for his unforgettable social, religious and literary contribution, but due to his continuous house arrest since August 2019 that has not been possible which is extremely unfortunate and hurts the religious sentiments of the people.

On the 602nd urs of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), the Anjuman said, “Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) was a high level religious and spiritual leader and a great reformer and educator who made a successful and sincere effort to present the eternal and immortal teachings of the holy Qur’an in our own mother tongue Kashmiri. That is why, despite the passage of centuries, the meaning, importance, significance, eloquence and relevance of his words have not diminished. Even today, the Kashmiri people, especially the scholars and preachers, read his Kalaam in their lectures and sermons with full enthusiasm and devotion.”

The Anjuman said that the purpose of observing the urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) can be achieved only when the Kashmiri people, amid the prevailing dire and appalling situation, practically follow the way of Shariah and social welfare as espoused by the great saint.
