Glorious tributes paid to martyrs of 13th July 1931

Srinagar,
July 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organisations
have paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 13th July 1931 on their martyrdom
anniversary, today. On 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed
22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the
court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to
defy the Dogra rule.

Senior
APHC leader and President of Anjuman Shari Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi
Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar, paying tributes to the 13th July
martyrs, said, “This day has the significance of marking the beginning of the
ongoing freedom struggle.” He said on this day in 1931, the Kashmiris for the
first time raised their voice against the atrocities perpetrated by the Dogra
rulers on them and 22 persons offered supreme sacrifices of their life. The
ongoing freedom movement is the continuous process of that struggle, he added.

The
Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Abdul Hameed
Butt, in his statement in Srinagar said, July 13, 1931 is a historic day of
Kashmiris’ resistance history. It was on this day when the Kashmiris with unity
and steadfastness started their struggle for freedom from occupation, monarchy,
dictatorship, autocracy and all kinds of suppressions.

The
Hurriyat forum and Awami Action Committee (AAC) headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq
in their statements in Srinagar recalled the great and supreme sacrifices of
the martyrs of July 13, 1931 and paid tributes to them. The AAC said that the
martyrs were the first to raise their voice in Jammu and Kashmir against the
oppressive autocratic rule and sacrificed their life fighting it.

The High
Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir in its statement remembering the
sacrifices of the Kashmiris who were martyred in 1931 expressed the confidence
that the people of Kashmir would carry forward the mission of their martyrs
till they achieved their goal for which they had sacrificed a lot during the
last over seven decades.
