HYDERABAD:Speakers at a ceremony on Tuesday paid homage to former vice-chancellor of University of Sindh Dr Abida Taherani for her meritorious services in the education sector.
The event was organized by University of Sindh at the tomb of the former VC Dr Abida Taherani, where the incumbent vice chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, registrar Dr Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto and a number of officers, teachers and employees participated in the event.
On the occasion, Dr Kalhoro lauded the academic services of former vice-chancellor, adding Dr Taherani was role model ‘for all of us’. He said the role he had played for the promotion of Sindh University, for which he said, she would be remembered forever.
During her term, Dr Taherani, the former VC played a pivotal role in curbing the menace of embezzlements in the funds. He said that University of Sindh was the ‘best’ among public sector universities across the country.
Registrar Dr Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto and director institute of gender studies Dr Misbah Bibi said being a social scientist she played a great role for creating awareness among students and fellow countrymen. They also paid rich tribute to late Dr VC and added that she was like an institution.
