Glowing tributes paid to Qazi Nisar Ahmed

Srinagar, June 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to prominent Islamic scholar, Qazi Nisar Ahmed, on his martyrdom anniversary saying that his contribution on religious and social fronts can never be forgotten. Qazi Nisar was shot dead by unknown gunmen on June 19 in 1994 in Bun Dialgan area of Islamabad district.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar paying homage to Qazi Nisar Ahmed said that in the ongoing freedom movement besides a large number of youth, people from all sections of society including religious scholars, academicians and political leaders had rendered the sacrifice of their lives. He said these sacrifices are precious assets of the freedom movement. A delegation of the Hurriyat forum visited Islamabad town and participated in a special prayers session held for Qazi Nisar Ahmed.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in his statement termed Qazi Nisar Ahmed as a gentle soul and a dedicated political and social leader who was extremely compassionate to the poor and needy people and worked for their welfare.

He said that Qazi Nisar sacrificed his life for the greater cause of the people in the line of seeking a resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “He was an outstanding figure and greatly contributed on various fronts particularly on political, social and religious fronts,” he said.

The Chairperson of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen, Zamruda Habib, in a statement in Srinagar said that Qazi Nisar was a great religious scholar who always emphasized on the unity of Ummah. She said that the contribution of Qazi Nisar in the ongoing freedom movement would always be remembered. The illegally detained Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in his statement issued in Srinagar also paid rich tributes to Qazi Nisar Ahmed.
