Islamabad, April 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): On the occasion of “Labour Day” Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development has said that the government acknowledges the valuable contributions of the workers and labourers; in nation building and socio-economic development of the country. Workers and employers are backbone of our economy, and their collaboration and dedication is essentially needed to increase the rate of economic growth and to bring peace and harmony in the country.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development is working diligently for the betterment of the working class in the country. It is our foremost commitment to formulate domestic labour laws according to International Labour Standards and bring conformity in the application of labour laws. The Ministry is working closely with all Provincial governments and social partners to ensure the protection of fundamental labour rights across the country. Pakistan has ratified 36 ILO conventions including eight fundamental conventions and is working rigorously for the effective implementation of these conventions.
Workers and employers are the pivotal part of our economy and skilled labour force plays an essential role in the socio-economic development of the country. I reaffirm our Ministry’s commitment to protect the fundamental rights of our labourers and workers. On this day, I greet the workers all across Pakistan from the core of my heart and pray for their future well-being and prosperity.
