Provincial Minister of Energy, Development and Planning Sindh Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that cheap and quality solar panels with the purchasing of the poorest people so that common people can also benefit from this system of alternative energy.
He expressed these views on the second day of the ongoing three-day solar expo at Expo Center Karachi today at various stalls and on the occasion of media interaction. Secretary Energy Sindh Mosaddeq Ahmed Khan and Project Director Sindh Solar Energy Mahfooz Ahmed Qazi were also with him.
Minister Nasir Shah, talking on the occasion of visiting the stalls of various domestic and foreign companies, emphasized that the people of Sindh cannot afford expensive electricity and cannot buy expensive solar systems. There is a need that all the items related to solar panels, including batteries, lithium etc., should be manufactured and marketed at affordable prices locally and internationally.
Nasir Shah said that due to the competition between companies in solar panels, the prices of solar panels have decreased at the domestic and foreign levels, but there is a need for further reduction. In response to a question, the minister said that the people are suffering from severe problems due to expensive electricity and load shedding and over-billing, but the Sindh government has taken notice of this and the people will get good news soon. He said that Sindh is providing the cheapest electricity to the National Grid. He said that farmers and poor farmers are also worried due to expensive fertilizers, but the government has also found a solution to their problems. Now cheap fertilizer will be produced from Thar coal. Nasir Shah said that more than 200 companies from 10 countries are participating in this exhibition, of which 80% are world-class companies.
He appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the exhibition and said that the positive image of not only the Sindh government but also Pakistan will go to the whole world by holding the exhibition and participation of foreign and foreign companies in it. The duration of the exhibition should be extended to several days instead of three days as people gain awareness from the exhibition and also get to know the quality of local and international companies. Minister said that more than 160,000 solar systems with inverters and battery backup will be provided free of cost to the poor and backward areas of Sindh. Hybrid solar parks are on the way.
