Karachi: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, yesterday chaired a meeting at Governor House here which reviewed matters pertaining to the Lyari Expressway and Northern Bypass.
The Governor directed that payment of compensation amount and allotment of plots under the Lyari Resettlement Project be stopped forthwith.
However, he said that under the agreed formula, the cases that had been settled, were given plots and compensation, and in future any case would be processed under the agreed formula. He also asked the Commissioner Karachi to scrutinise steps taken in this connection during the past six months. The meeting was attended by the Administrator of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Muhammad Hussain Syed, Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh, and senior officials including those of Planning and Development Department, Finance, NHA etc.
The Governor said that the families shifted under Lyari Resettlement Scheme were being settled so far under a transparent system and the shifting was taken up under a settled formula and there was no complaint in this regard. He stated that the complaints received recently should be addressed under every circumstances.
Dr. Ebad took notice of poor condition of the Mauripur Section of Northern Bypass and directed that immediate steps be taken in this regard.
Stressing the shifting of heavy traffic away from the city, he directed that better flow of traffic be maintained on the Northern Bypass.
The Governor expressing concern over the dacoities and crimes on the highways, directed that the patrolling of the Highway Police be enhanced. He also said that the remaining work of the Lyari Expressway should be completed as per agreed matter and that in this regard there should be better coordination among all the stakeholders.
