Govt hands NIPA hospital to DUHS

KARACHI:Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Prof Muhammad Saeed Qureshi said government of Sindh continues to support us for treatment of coronavirus patient in the region, and for this purpose government handed over a hospital at Nipa Chowrangi to us for treatment of infectious disease.

Talking at an online program, he said work is in full swing in the NIPA hospital, which will be completed within six months. It will have a capacity of 200 patients, 16 ICU beds, and there will be 64 beds with central AC system.

He said in the last week of February, the first case of coronavirus was reported in Pakistan and at the same time major administrative changes began in the Dow University and we successfully launched online classes to protect student from corona virus. He said our faculty members made necessary changes in the course and we also made arrangements to take exams online. He said on other hand we also facilitated students participating in supplementary exam online.

Further he said Faisal Ghani arranged many module levels for the students. Which were for MBBS, BDS, IMT and for others students. He said from the day one we set up a separate ward for coronavirus patients and admitted the patients who came here. The sad thing is that the mortality rate from corona has increased in Pakistan. We have set up a 48 bed ward for the care of corona patents and are also taking further steps, he said.
