Govt to introduce 5G technology in Pakistan by 2020

Islamabad, April 28, 2018 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rehman has said the government is planning to replicate Information and Communications Technology for Girls programme in all the provinces to expand knowledge based economy. Addressing the ‘Taking Stock and Moving Forward’ conference in Islamabad, she said efforts are being made to provide woman and girls greater access to education, economic resources, skill development and employment opportunities.

The Minister said the IT Ministry has started a project in Balochistan costing 26 billion rupees to provide the 3G service to the people of province. The minister described the DigiSkills programme as an important part of Information Technology initiative that will create online employment opportunities to enable youth to earn 200 to 300 dollars per month as they would have access across the globe. She said the government is making all-out efforts to introduce 5G technology in Pakistan by 2020 to bring it at par with the developed economies in terms of technology advancements.
