ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is trying to reduce the burden on people’s pockets with low-cost and environment-friendly electricity.
He was presiding over a meeting to review development regarding solarization of government buildings across the country here in Islamabad on Wednesday. The Prime Minister said we will not tolerate any obstacle in implementation of measures to reduce dependence on imported fuel. He directed to install solar systems in government buildings in Islamabad within the next 7 weeks.
He further directed the authorities concerned to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe. The Prime Minister said that work on solarization of federal government buildings in other areas of the country should also be started immediately.
The meeting was informed that 496 government buildings in Islamabad, 340 in big cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Quetta and 1255 government buildings in other areas will be replaced with solar energy. The meeting was also informed that the installation of solar panels in government buildings in Islamabad will be done on emergency basis.
