KARACHI:The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the minister of science and technology Fawad Chaudhry to immediately facilitate some of the manufacturers of fans, washing machines and air conditioners to quickly arrange and prepare to manufacture the much needed ventilators required by all countries of the world on urgent basis.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said our manufacturers are known the world over for the good quality fans manufactured by them and also the washing machines and air conditioners are considered of international standards, what is desperately needed is ventilators for hospitals and patients suffering from Coronavirus to help support their respiratory systems.
Thaver explained that these manufacturers could start making ventilators within a short span of time as they already have the basic machinery and only the balloons are required to collect the air and discharge it in support of the lungs.
UNISAME has also urged the Engineering Development Board, and the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association to join hands and make it happen on war footings.
Thaver said that UNISAME team will try best and co-ordinate with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to arrange for meetings on conference calls to promote the idea and request the authorities to take prompt steps.
