Grand Health Alliance announces province-wide protest from tomorrow

KARACHI: Grand Health Alliance (GHA) has announced a complete boycott of OPDs and protest demonstration from Karachi to Kashmore from 13th October for provision of health risk allowance on permanent basis and acceptance of other genuine demands.

This was decided in an urgently called meeting of executive committee of Grand Health Alliance (GHA) held at Surgical Hall of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) here on Monday.

The representatives of Pakistan Medical Association, Young Doctors Association Sindh, Young Nurses Association Sindh, Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association, All Sindh Peoples Paramedical Staff Association and Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association attended the meeting.

The office-bearers of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff organizations unanimously agreed to observe province-wide boycott of OPDs and hold protest from 13 to 15 October 2020.

A six-member committee comprising Dr Pir Manzoor Ali, Dr Mehbob Nonari, Aijaz Hussain Kaleri, Akhlaq Ahmed Khan, Sharif Palari and Khadim Hussain Mastoi will present a charter of demands to Sindh health department amid protests.

A central leader of Grand Health Alliance (GHA), Aijaz Kaleri, while talking to PPI, said following demands, including provision of health risk allowance, increase in house rent, JPMC and NICH matter should be solved regarding transfers and pending promotions, while stipend of PGs and HOs should be equalized to the federal PGs and HOs and their previous pay raise arrears be also given besides restoring PMDC by rejecting PMC.

He said those demands would be raised through GHA platform during province-wide protest and boycott of OPDs. Executive Committee Member, GHA, Akhlaq Ahmed Khan, said doctors, nurses and paramedics of Sindh would hold a protest at Chief Minister House, Governor House and Sindh Assembly on 19 October 2020 if their demands were not be accepted.
