Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan, introducing multiple projects aimed at modernizing agriculture and providing farmers with essential facilities under one roof.
According to a report, the initiative includes the launch of the Green Agri Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre. These projects are designed to improve access to quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and modern agricultural machinery at affordable rates.
The Green Agri Mall and Service Company will offer farmers discounted agricultural inputs and doorstep delivery services. Additionally, agricultural machinery, including drones, will be available on rental terms.
A 5,000-acre Smart Agri Farm has been established as a model for modern agricultural techniques. The farm will feature advanced irrigation systems and water-efficient farming practices to help reduce costs and improve yields.
The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will provide laboratory services, including soil testing, and collaborate with research institutions nationwide to enhance agricultural knowledge and practices.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that these projects mark the beginning of a new phase for Punjab’s farmers. She stressed that agricultural development is closely linked to the well-being of farmers and the overall growth of Pakistan.
Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, who also attended the event, acknowledged Punjab’s role as Pakistan’s agricultural hub. He commended the leadership of Punjab’s farmers in adopting modern agricultural practices and praised the government’s Green Corporate project for its progress.
General Munir reiterated the army’s commitment to supporting economic development initiatives and emphasized continued cooperation in strengthening the agricultural sector.
