Karachi, November 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) organized a Breast Cancer awareness session for its female employees at its head office in Karachi recently. The session was held in collaboration with Liaquat National Hospital. The session was organized in an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.
The session was conveyed under the pink ribbon theme, which is the prominent symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness to promote healthy lives and well-being for women at all ages. The session was graced by Prof. Rufina Soomro, a practicing General Surgeon, specialized in breast surgeries at Liaquat National Hospital and PECHS Trauma and General Hospital in Karachi along with the female employees of GSM. The session was used to provide a safe space for the audience, especially females to learn about causes, symptoms and prevention measures regarding the disease.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Rufina Soomro, General Surgeon, Liaquat National Hospital said, “It is pleasing to see Greenstar come forward and ensure that their female employees are healthy and safe. A seminar on sensitive health issues empowers women to take better care of themselves. The welfare and health of the community of our country is linked to the health and welfare of our female population. It was an honour being a part of this session, and providing accurate information to the participants.”
Speaking in praise of the initiative, Dr. Syed Azizur Rab, CEO of GSM said, “It is not easy for women to discuss health issues such as Breast Cancer openly. Greenstar, realizing this, hosted this session to ensure that its female employees are made aware of the different factors of this deadly disease. We are thankful to Dr. Rufina for gracing us with this session to impart knowledge on breast cancer.”
