(Health): Kids at stake due to closure of emergency, other services at Chil Hospital

KARACHI:The patients at Sindh Government Children Hospital, North Nazimabad, Friday continued to suffer as Sindh Health Department and Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) have failed to resume emergency and other essential services in the hospital despite the passage of two months.

The children who require emergency care are being referred to other public and private sector hospitals since last two months as PEI management has closed the emergency services in protest after failure of Sindh government to release budget of the hospital on time.

The doctors, nurses and paramedical staff working under PEI have not been paid salaries since several months by PEI management due to its financial crisis. More than 300 employees, including doctors nurses, paramedical and administrative staff, have not been paid salaries since several months.

The hospital management has suspended OPDs, emergency and other services since August 2020. The closure of emergency and other services have irked the patients.
