Health Minister appreciates technical support being provided by World Health Organization

Islamabad, July 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh expressed appreciation for the technical support being provided to the health sector in Pakistan by World Health Organization. He expressed the appreciation during call on by Dr. Mohammad Assai Ardakani WHO Representative in Pakistan here today. He expressed the desire to further expand and strengthen collaboration between his Ministry and WHO to improve the health status of the people. Federal Secretary National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Capt. (R) Zahid Saeed and Director General Health Dr. Assad Hafeez were also present during the meeting.

WHO Country Rep. apprised the Minister of support being provided by his organization in the diverse areas. He made special mention of the family practice program, prevention and control of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Dr. Assai dwelt at length on the recently developed Joint Program Review Mission (JPRM) jointly by Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and WHO. On this occasion the WHO Country Rep. extended felicitations to the Minster on behalf of the Regional Director WHO Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari on assuming office.
