Health minister inaugurates anti-polio drive in Sindh

KARACHI:Provincial Minister for Health Sindh Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho on Monday inaugurated the anti-polio campaign in Sindh wherein more than nine million children under five-years of age would be administrated polio drops.

The Coordinator Emergency Operation Centre(EOC) for Polio in Sindh, Fayyaz Abbasi, Project Director, Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), Akram Sultan and District Health Officer South Dr Raj Kumar were also present on this occasion.

Pechuho administered polio drops to children and also distributed gifts among them during the ceremony held here. She advised the parents to vaccinate their children and save them from childhood diseases like polio.

The province-wide anti-polio drive has started from 30 November and will continue till 06 December 2020 as part of the national immunization days. The polio drops will be given to approximately nine million children under five years of age across 29 districts of the province. Out of these, more than two million children reside in Karachi.
