Karachi: Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) management has finalized arrangements to install second advanced incinerator in the hospital for disposal of medical waste.

Second advanced incinerator is being installed in government-run Civil Hospital Karachi for disposal of medical waste, including disposable syringes, drips, urine or blood bags, needles, fluids and other used wastage which are harmful to medical staff.

Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr Ruth KM Pfau CHK, Dr Ismail Memon, while talking to PPI, said another advanced incinerator was being installed in the institution for safe disposal of medical waste of this hospital as well as generated in Sindh Government Services Hospital. He informed that site had already finalized and installation work would start very soon.

He further said under the hospital waste management plan, a strategy had been devised for proper and safe disposal of medical waste on the recommendations of experts. He explained that CHK generates more than 2500 kilogram infected and non-infected medical waste in 24 hours out which 1300kg infected medical waste.
