(Health): Two model infectious diseases wards being establish at CHK

Karachi:Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) management has issued order to convert two wards into model wards in context of infectious control and waste management, PPI learnt Monday.

 

Additional Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr Ismail Memon, while talking to PPI, told that two words, including surgical ward-3 and medical ward-3, were being converted into model wards to prevent patients and medical staff from hospital acquired infectious. He said training of doctors, nurses and premedical staff was underway under supervision of infectious diseases expert Dr Azizullah Khan Dhillon.

 

He explained that in first phase, these two wards would be established as model wards and in second phase, major departments of the hospital would be converted as model wards after training of doctors, paramedical staff and nurses. He further informed that a comprehensive plan had been made to implement standard operating procedure (SOP) in model wards for proper disposal of medical waste and infection prevention strategy.
