Heavy rains may generate urban flooding in Islamabad, other cities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department informed on Thursday that strong monsoon currents are penetrating in upper and central parts of the country during next 48 hours.

During the next 24 hours, more rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and northeastern Balochistan. Scattered heavy falls are likely in Kashmir, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Heavy falls are also likely in Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Shirani, Sibbi and Naseerabad during the period.

Past 24-Hour Weather: Rain-wind/thundershower occurred in Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, north Balochistan and lower Sindh. Hot and humid weather prevailed in other parts of the country.

Heavy Rains may generate urban flooding in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala from 21 to 23rd July. Rainfall may trigger landslides in Kashmir, Galiyat, Murree, Chillas, Diamir, Gilgit, Hunza, Astore and Skardu during the forecast period. Flash flooding is also expected in local Nullahs of Dera Ghazi Khan and Eastern Balochistan.
