High alert declared at KMC hospitals

KARACHI:Medical and Health Services Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Monday declared a high alert at its all hospitals and medical institutions due to ongoing heavy monsoon rains.

According to the department, all the heads of institutions have been directed to make necessary arrangements, prepare duty rosters and ensure the presence of staff on duty as per duty roster. “All kinds of leaves are hereby canceled immediately, and no leave will be considered during rain emergency. The focal persons should ensure their presence with foolproof arrangements to deal with the emergency,” the department said.

Medical and Health Services Department said that during monsoon season, there is also the danger of an increase in number of cases of typhoid, dysentery, diarrhea, malaria and infectious diseases, and there is also a post-monsoon threat for dengue, naegleria, and chikungunya infections. All should prepare a foolproof plan and be prepared for the treatment, it concluded.
