HR body issues arrest warrant against Bandipor DC

Srinagar, May 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Human Rights Commission has issued a bailable arrest warrant against the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bandipora for failing to file a report regarding invoking of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), on a deranged person.

The Commission Chairperson, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki, while hearing the case, said the DC of Bandipora has failed to file the compliance report before the Commission with regard to the case. On April 15, the Commission had directed the DC to explain whether there was a provision to arrest a mentally ailing person under PSA or not.

“Neither the DC Bandipora has filed a report nor is he present. He is not represented by anybody,” the Commission chief said while hearing the case.

“Since there is no response from the DC, let a warrant arrest of Rs 2000 be issued against him. The warrant be executed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bandipora,” he said.
