The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Wednesday issued a strong condemnation of the recent attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, which tragically resulted in the deaths of several children and left dozens injured.
The organization highlighted the seriousness of targeting innocent schoolchildren, labeling it a violation of basic human rights and international humanitarian law. “This act is a red line that must never be crossed,” HRCP emphasized in a statement.
The commission criticized both federal and provincial governments for their ongoing failure to prevent such attacks, pointing to significant security lapses affecting ordinary citizens. HRCP underscored the state”s responsibility to maintain law and order by reinforcing civilian institutions and upholding the rule of law through nonviolent means.
In response, HRCP called for the swift identification and legal prosecution of those responsible, as well as their supporters. Additionally, the organization urged for urgent political dialogue to address longstanding issues of representation, governance, and resource allocation in Balochistan.
