Hunger strike by Yasin Malik enters third day in Tihar jail today

New Delhi, July 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):The hunger strike by incarcerated Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik entered its third day, today, in New Delhi’s Tihar jail. Muhammad Yasin Malik had announced the hunger strike till death to push for legal demands such as fair trial and physical presence during court hearings. He started the strike on Friday, July 22.

Malik’s family members and leaders of his party Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front have expressed concern about the health of ailing JKLF chief. They said the hunger strike poses a great risk to his life as his health has already deteriorated to a great extent due to suffering from various ailments besides solitary confinement in Tihar Jail for the past three and a half years.

The JKLF chief spokesperson, Muhammad Rafiq Dar in a statement said, apart from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Azad Kashmir, hunger strike camps were established around the world especially in London, Birmingham and Brussels by the party in solidarity with Muhammad Yasin Malik. Besides JKLF leaders and workers, political leaders of other organizations, civil society members and a large number of Kashmiri common participated in the strike.
