In a significant development at the Parliament House on Wednesday, the National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat unanimously elected Ibrar Ahmad, Member of the National Assembly (MNA), as its new Chairman.
The meeting commenced with a welcome note from the Additional Secretary (Committees) of the National Assembly Secretariat, who also briefed members on the election procedure.
Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani, MNA, proposed Ibrar Ahmad’s name for the chairmanship, which was unanimously seconded by all committee members.
Following his unopposed election, Ibrar Ahmad received congratulations from the Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary (Committees), who conveyed best wishes on behalf of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Secretary General of the National Assembly.
They also assured full institutional support for the committee’s effective functioning. In his remarks, Ibrar Ahmad expressed gratitude to fellow members for their confidence in his leadership.
He emphasized a consensus-based approach to the committee’s legislative responsibilities. The Committee members welcomed his vision and pledged full cooperation in the legislative process.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, MNA and Chief Whip of the ruling party, also congratulated the newly elected chairman and assured his party’s full backing for the committee’s agenda.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Ms Tahira Aurangzeb, Ms Nuzhat Sadiq, Dr Nelson Azeem, Irfan Ali Leghari, Syed Rafiullah, Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani, and Ms Rana Ansar, along with senior officials from the National Assembly Secretariat.
