ICCI concerned over registration of fake FIRs against high value taxpayers

Islamabad, March 29, 2019 (PPI-OT):The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has shown great concerns over the registration of fake FIRs against high value taxpayers just to harass them and termed it a dangerous trend as it would discourage new investment and affect the growth of trade and industrial activities.

Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that a person has registered fake FIRs against Mian Muhammad Adrees, Chairman, Sitara Group of Industries and former President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry just to harass and blackmail him. He said such blackmailing tactics against a renowned industrialist and one of top hundred taxpayers of the country have created concerns among the business community of the country.

ICCI President said that the economy of Pakistan was passing through a difficult phase and it was very important that government should create a conducive environment for investors and businessmen to put the economy on the path of sustainable growth. For this purpose, government should provide full protection to investors and taxpayers. However, the trend of registering fake FIRs against taxpayers would prove harmful for the investment and the overall economy.

He appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Minister of State for Interior, IG Police Punjab and IG Police Islamabad to take notice of this situation and take stern action against those who were use registering fake FIRs against the top taxpayers to harass them.
