Lahore, August 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that the one who becomes the protector of the oppressed and understands the problems of the citizens is my favourite in the force and the one who is the accomplice of the oppressor and the one who commits immorality with the citizens will be my dislike. Not only has he no place in the department but I will do my best not to return to the department anytime soon.
He further said that the supervisory officers should immediately inform the superiors about the deployment of such unscrupulous, unruly and immoral subordinates in police stations or public dealing seats so that the image of the department could be protected from their actions. He further said that Punjab Police does dozens of good deeds on a daily basis but still the general impression of police is not correct which is a place of concern for all of us so we all have to give priority to good manners and helpful attitude in public dealings.
He further said that we have to eradicate crime from the society by treating the citizens with good manners as part of our faith, we have to fight against occupation mafia, drug dealers, smugglers and other criminals for the sake of Allah so that we may be able to exercise the rights and authority given by Allah. He further said that Punjab Police is celebrating this year as the year of police stations and all development funds would be utilized for the provision of all modern equipments, facilities in the police stations and increase in the capacity of the force.
He further said that steps are being taken on priority basis to make Punjab Police a public centric and investigation centric force so that improved service delivery could truly reach the people with the effects of modern policing. He further said that improving the workout rate is the best way to prevent crime, so along with free registration of crime, the workout rate of cases should be improved. He further said that No-delay in registration of FIR is my top priority so file an immediate case for every crime, especially for crimes in which the accused are not known.
He further said that the concerned CPOs, DPOs and Divisional SPs would have to answer for non-registration of the FIR and Supervisory officers should play a key role in ridding the department of such elements who are corrupt and unruly .He further said that for the sake of the honour of the department, I had to sack all the officers and officials of bad repute who were hardly one per cent of the department, so I would not hesitate to do so. He further said that the job of a good supervisory officer is to form a team consisting of capable, hardworking and well-spoken subordinates and also enable to play a leading role in the future.
He further said that all the officers and personnel in Punjab Police from constable to supervisory officers are being divided into A, B and C categories and in future only A and B category will be able to be posted in police stations and fields. He further said that the police station is a basic unit of working and in order to restore its dignity, all the officers and personnel have to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity. He expressed these views while addressing to officers and officials of Lahore Police Darbar at Alhamra Hall Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that Lahore Police has so far relinquished Rs.73 billion public and private lands to the Mafia while arresting 128 notorious thugs and taking legal action has been taken against them. 57 Kalashnikovs, 662 rifles and hundreds of pistols were recovered from the possession of the accused. 117 gangs were arrested and more than 427 million were recovered while 14 kg of ice, two and a half tons of cannabis and other drugs were recovered in large quantities whereas the protests by banned organizations have also been dealt with successfully.
Upon which IG Punjab said that being an IG Punjab, I am satisfied with performance of Lahore Police and Punjab Police, we only need to improve our attitudes and morals so that the overall opinion and identity of the people about the Police department can also change. “The honour of every constable in the police department is paramount as we represent the government in the field, so we have to make our attitudes and public dealings more dignified,” he added. On this occasion, IG Punjab also listened to the queries of SHOs and in-charge investigations and issued orders for their redressal on the spot.
