IG Punjab chairs plenary session at central police office

Lahore, August 27, 2019 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan said that officers should take actions and conduct crackdown under their supervision against elimination of drugs dealers especially involved in drug of Ice and other heinous crimes in order to make such elements of society a symbol of disgrace. IGP directed to conduct intelligence based operations especially in the vicinity of educational institutions and hostels to breakdown the network of drug dealers and weekly report of these operations must be sent to Central Police Office.

He showed grave concern over death of a young person due to drug of ice and said that a full fledged operation should be launched taking the matter as a test case and taking into account all aspects of the matter. He further said that it has become a challenge for police now that the murderer of uncle and nephew in Millat Park is still at large and directed the officers to arrest the murderers as early as possible. These views were expressed by him while giving directions to officers at Central Police Office. Addl IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani, CCPO Lahore BA Nasir, DIG operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and DIG Investigation Dr. Inaam Waheed along with other officers were present on this occasion.

IG Punjab stressed upon officers that circle officers, SHOs and Incharge investigation should be reproved for delay in arresting of accused involved in murder cases. He moreover said that senior officer should pay surprise visits of Police stations for improving the working of Police stations. He said that inspection should be done regularly and officers should gain better performance and results form their subordinates deputed in police stations.

He further said that service delivery to general public should be ensured by dispensing tasks of Police stations equally by utilizing all available resources so that trust between police and public might be further improved. IG Punjab further said that officers should themselves prepare and send required information / reports to Central Police Office instead of their subordinates. He said that if any officer showed negligence and laziness in this regard, he will be issued a letter of displeasure.
