Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has condemned recent drone strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), calling for immediate cessation and urging the provincial government to lodge a formal protest with the federal authorities.

In a statement issued from Adiala Jail, Khan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent civilian lives in these attacks, emphasizing that such actions do not diminish terrorism but rather exacerbate it. He reminded that after years of struggle, Pakistan had previously halted U.S. drone strikes, and he urged against bombing one’s own people in the fight against terrorism.

Khan also addressed recent rumors regarding a potential political deal, categorically denying any such discussions. He criticized the current political climate, stating that the law appears to apply only to the weak, not the powerful, and lamented the erosion of democratic values and moral principles in the country.

Highlighting personal grievances, Khan detailed the restrictions imposed on him in jail, including limited contact with family and legal counsel, denial of access to books, and interference with his right to a fair trial. He described these actions as a violation of judicial orders and an affront to the rule of law.

The former premier concluded by calling on the establishment to engage in dialogue for the nation’s benefit, stressing the need for unity to address external threats, rising terrorism, and economic challenges. He reiterated that his stance has always been for the country’s welfare, without seeking personal gain.
