In view of the current tense situation in the country and at the borders, a highlevel meeting was held at the Karachi Police Office presided over by Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, where a detailed review of the city’s current security situation was conducted. Orders were issued for the police to remain on alert at all levels and to cancel leaves.
The meeting was attended by DIG Admin, DIG Investigation, DIG CIA, Zonal DIGs, DIG Traffic, Commandant SSU, District SSPs, SSP SPU, and other senior officers, stated the police spokesman here on Wednesday.
He said that the instructions were given to increase surveillance of important installations and government and nongovernment buildings. Police officers were also directed to keep an eye on markets and public places.
The meeting also considered the return of Afghan citizens, action against tinted windows and fake number plates, and issues related to the Builders Association. Furthermore, discussions were held on the security of the cattle market on the Northern Bypass, and measures against street crime and drug dealers, he added.
The spokesman said that the Additional IG Karachi emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to improve police performance. The protection of citizens’ lives and property and the enforcement of the law were declared as the primary responsibilities of the police department.
