The leader of JamaateIslami Sindh, Kashif Saeed Sheikh, has strongly condemned the recent increase of 8 rupees in the prices of petroleum products, announced after the budget, calling it antipeople and laden with taxes. JamaateIslami Sindh has termed this increase a “price hike bomb” and demanded its immediate withdrawal to protect public interests.
In his statement, Sheikh expressed that the rise in fuel prices will significantly increase the cost of nearly all goods and services, imposing an undue burden on ordinary citizens. He accused current leaders of deceit, pointing out their failed promises to reduce the prices of essential items like flour and to undertake extreme measures including the sale of personal assets. Now, these leaders are depriving financially vulnerable individuals of their basic rights by imposing additional increases in essentials like petrol, gas, and electricity.
Sheikh emphasized that the government is already imposing multiple taxes on every liter of oil sold, and this additional increase will only exacerbate inflationary pressures. He urged the government to retract these increases and reduce government spending to alleviate financial pressure on ordinary households.
