Jammu, August 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), a constituent of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has said that the Indian government has turned the territory into a big jail. APHC leader and the JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem in a statement issued in Jammu said that some eight million people had been deprived of all social, political and even religious freedoms with a complete media and communication blackout.
He said that after the abrogation of the special status of occupied Kashmir by India, most parts of the territory were living under the siege of hundreds of thousands of Indian forces. He said that people of Kashmir were not being allowed to perform their social and even religious obligations. Mir Shahid Saleem said hundreds of thousands of troops are patrolling the civilian areas to maintain peace on gunpoint. He said that India wanted to achieve the silence of graveyard in the name of peace in occupied Kashmir.
He deplored that people were prevented from offering congregational Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and scores of other mosques in Kashmir for the third consecutive week. He appealed the world community to help in ending the siege around the Kashmiris and restoring all their basic human rights.
