India resorting to Ghunda raj in IOK ahead of August 15: Hurriyat forum

Srinagar, July 31, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the fresh wave of mass frisking by the Indian forces’ personnel across the Valley, terming it as a tool to instill fear among masses ahead of August 15, India’s Independence Day.

A spokesman for the forum in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “It is height of repression that the forces are checking mobile phones of youth, SIM cards and phone gallery and laptops, which is the worst form of oppression and in case any pro-freedom content is found, mobile phones are broken and the owner is subjected to torture. This exhibits state intolerance and Ghunda raj [rule of thugs].”

He said in view of the August 15, entire Kashmir is witnessing huge deployment of Indian forces’ personnel in every village and street which reflects the intention of the rulers to convert the entire Valley into military garrison a fortnight before by putting entire population to big harassment and trouble.

“Once again, hundreds of bunkers, barricades and watchtowers have been set up across Kashmir which is a great cause of concern,” he said. “Such ploys were tested in the past but failed to break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir. The repressive moves can force neither the people nor the resistance leadership into submission,” he added. The spokesman urged the international community to take strong note of the repression being unleashed by lacs of Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and play role in stopping it forthwith.
