India urged to give up policy of oppression in IOK

Srinagar, May 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has urged the Indian government to give up the policy of oppression and suppression and honour the aspirations of the people by addressing all issues through comprehensive and result-oriented dialogue.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the use of force on civilians in Kulgam and Shopian highly undemocratic and contrary to the human values.

Expressing concern over the increasing use of repressive measures against civilians, he said that with every passing moment situation in the Kashmir valley was touching new low as relentless force had been unleashed on people. The highhandedness of the Indian forces against innocent civilians is unacceptable and it must stop without further delay, he added. He said such intimidation will only further deteriorate the situation.

He said Kashmir is a political and humanitarian dispute which needs to be resolved on priority so that people in the region can live in peace and with dignity. As long as its resolution is delayed, the situation is bound to deteriorate further, he maintained. The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman said that time had come for the world community to take cognizance of the plight of the people of Kashmir and help end their sufferings.
